Mr. Boller graduated with a Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems from the State University College at Buffalo, (in Buffalo, NY). After working in many areas of IT (Computer Hardware and Software support, Networking, Graphic Design, Video Editing and Web Design) Mr. Boller realized he liked helping users learn how to “do” most of all. He decided he wanted to help the next generation of IT professionals get a head start on their careers so he went back to school to get his teaching credentials. Upon graduating a 2nd time he decided to move from snowy Buffalo to Sunny Mansfield for a fresh start and better regional job opportunities.

Mr. Boller first started working for the district in 2005 as an Interactive Media teacher at IMAC, a district sponsored conversion school. After transferring to Mansfield Senior High School he completed three specialized certifications (IT Essentials, CCNA Networking and Cyber Security) to switch from an Interactive Media teacher back to his roots in IT. The IT Essentials curriculum prepares students to be able to take the CompTIA ITF+ and CompTIA A+ certifications. CCNA Networking is four different courses that take the students through all the needed information to take their Cisco CCNA certification. And the Cyber Security training gave Mr. Boller the skills to teach the Cisco CyberOps course that is aligned with the Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate certification.

Mr Boller also runs “Gamer’s Club” at Sr. High. He loves watching the merging of tech and games that make for an interactive experience. When he has time, gaming is still one of his favorite activities. If you ask, he will admit, he is just a big kid at heart!

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Year 1
Information Technology & Computer Hardware
In Networking & Cyber Security we start with the fundamentals of computer hardware and software by preparing students to take their CompTIA IT Fundamentals Plus and CompTIA A+ certifications.

As the industry standard for getting a technical support job and establishing an IT career, the CompTIA A+ goes beyond PC repair. It prepares students to troubleshoot and problem solve a wide variety of issues, from networking and operating systems to mobile devices and security. It truly is a stepping stone to careers in infrastructure, cybersecurity and more.

Students who earn their CompTIA A+ certification will be able to:
  • Configure, install and upgrade operating systems, including Windows, Apple OS X, Linux, iOS, Android and Windows Mobile
  • Install and image virtual machines
  • Set up and troubleshoot peripheral devices
  • Assemble and disassemble computing hardware
  • Set up and support basic home and small office networks
  • Implement cybersecurity controls appropriate to help desk and technical support roles
  • Troubleshoot and support end-user access to applications and data

CompTIA’s A+ certification goes beyond training to map skills and knowledge to job roles including service desk analyst, help desk tech, technical support specialist, field service technician, associate network engineer, data support technician, desktop support administrator, end-user computing technician and system support specialist.

If you’re thinking about a career in IT, then the Networking and Cyber Security Career Tech program is for you.
