Welcome to our school! We are a free Mansfield City Schools Public School and the only State of Ohio Designated STEM school in Richland and surrounding counties, and our School has been approved for continued designation as a STEM school for 5 consecutive years.

Mission
Springmill STEM Elementary, in partnership with the community, seeks to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success in the STEM fields of Study. Students will develop critical thinking skills through hands-on, project-based learning that will prepare them to take on real-world challenges. Springmill STEM Elementary will prepare students for STEM pathways in intermediate, secondary, and post-secondary education so that they can be successful in the increasingly high-tech and high-skilled global economy.

Vision
The vision of Springmill STEM Elementary is to provide an educational option for students to be introduced to and pursue their interests and aptitudes in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through the project and problem-based learning.

WHAT IS STEM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. But a STEM education is not just about those subjects; it is a way of teaching and learning. Students at Springmill STEM will become problem solvers through inquiry-based learning.

Inquiry-based learning is a student-centered teaching method that encourages students to ask questions and investigate real-world problems. In this type of learning environment, students are actively engaged in the learning process and are given the opportunity to explore their natural curiosities. This type of learning is often hands-on and allows students to connect what they learn in the classroom and the real world. Enrollment information for the 25-26 school year:

RETURNING STUDENTS - Students returning to Springmill STEM who were enrolled during the 24-25 school year need to complete all forms in Final Forms as soon as possible to secure their spot for the 25-26 school year.

KINDERGARTENERS - Parents interested in having their student attend kindergarten at STEM for the 25-26 school year need to complete all enrollment forms in Final Forms and indicate STEM as their choice of school. Once the kindergarten spots are full, students will be placed on a waitlist and assigned to Sherman Elementary for the start of the year. Students may be called from the waitlist until the end of the fall semester of the 25-26 school year.

NEW RESIDENTS - Any student who has moved into Mansfield City School District over the summer, or moves into the district during the year, needs to fill out enrollment information on Final Forms and indicate STEM as school of interest, however, acceptance is not guaranteed due to limits on class sizes and services available. If there is no space available in the grade level requested, students will be assigned to either Sherman Elementary (PreK-2nd) or Malabar Intermediate (3rd-6th). Students may be called from the waitlist until the end of the fall semester of the 25-26 school year.

INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER - Any student entering 1st through 6th grade who wishes to transfer to STEM from another Mansfield City School (i.e., Sherman, Spanish Immersion, or Malabar) must contact the school office to see if there is space and/or services available in the requested grade level prior to making changes in Final Forms. If there is no space available, students will be placed on a waitlist based on the date and time of their request. Students may be called from the waitlist until the end of the fall semester of the 25-26 school year.
