I went on to get mu master’s degree from Ashland University, and also Ohio State University for my Literacy Specialist certification and my Reading Endorsement.

I started teaching in the Mansfield City Schools 26 years ago as a science teacher at Malabar Middle School. I loved teaching science and loved my students. I then decided to teach reading, and have been doing that for 13 years. I also love teaching reading.

I am married and have been for 38 years! I have two grown children that went to school, K-12, in the Mansfield City Schools, and are= glad to be Tygers! I have one grandson and our family dog, who is 15! That’s pretty old for a dog! I love them all !  I enjoy exercising, walking, knitting, watching old movies and reading.

My motto is “readers are leaders” !!! Go Student Tygers!

Hello, I am Teresa McDowell.  I am a Student Support Specialist.  Although I am licensed to teach first through eighth grade, I have mostly worked with students who need extra help in reading...and I LOVE it!  I attended Ohio State Univ. and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  I began my teaching career with the Mansfield City Schools in Adult Education.  Later I was offered a position as a Title 1 Teacher at Carpenter Elementary school.  Soon thereafter, I was trained in reading intervention instruction at Ashland Univ. called Reading Recovery.
