For the second year in a row students at Mansfield Senior High School exceeded a 90 percent pass rate on the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology license exam.
All 10 of the cosmetology students who took the exam this year passed the practical portion of the test with flying colors,” instructor Crystal Weese said. “The theory pass rate exceeds all previous years of the program with an impressive rate of 90 percent.”
The 2013 graduates are now licensed cosmetologists.
Denny Snyder, director of the Career Tech Education programs at Senior High, said it is “very gratifying to see our students perform so well on a state exam.”
“It is a testament to the strong Career Tech programs at Senior High, as well as to the hard work Ms. Weese and the students put into their educational goals,” Snyder said.
Weese said she wasn’t surprised by her students’ success, citing the personal goals they had set and their intense approach to preparing for the state exam.
“My reaction when I found out my students had passed the state exam was equal parts relief and excitement,” she said. “Every time they test I get a little nervous as I watch them enter the testing area. But when it was all said and done I felt very proud of all the hard work we did this year.
“I told my students how proud I am that they took such ownership of their success. I am truly blessed to work with such awesome students.”
