Mr. Douglas, Principal

This is my 23rd year in Education and my 10th with MCS. I am a 1990 graduate of Mansfield Senior High and am happy to be giving back to the district that has provided for me. My second job is being a taxi cab driver for my sons, who both play football. Personally, I enjoy playing golf, fishing, and spending time with my family. Looking forward to another year working with middle school students…Go Tygers!

I am excited to be in my third year with Mansfield City Schools and continue to push students and staff academically. Prior to Administration, I taught Science for 13 years. When I'm not in the building, I'm busy with my three children, usually taking someone to practice or watching a game. Mr. Brumfield, Dean of Students 

This is my 8th year in Education, all of which have been spent with Mansfield City Schools. I've previously taught at Prospect and Malabar before coming to the Middle School.  I am a 2008 graduate of Mansfield Senior High. I live in Mansfield with my wife and two sons. In my free time, I enjoy lifting, reading, watching sports, and spending time with my family. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with middle school students. Go TYgers!

Hi I'm Ms. Shramko, I'm one of the Physical Education Teachers at The Mansfield Middle School. I've been teaching PE for 30 years. I went to Ohio University and you'll see how much of a Bobcat I am.  I have two grown kids, and Jaxon is my favorite dog. You might see him in some of the video's. I'm super excited to see you and can't wait to work out with you in person and in our Google Meets. We will stay safe but still get active. I hope you will get your family involved in our workouts. I am Neil Topovski. I graduated from The University of Akron and have been teaching for 25 years... I love earth science and my hobbies include; geology, boating, riding motorcycles, traveling.

I’m Mr. Charles Bradley, band director for Malabar Intermediate School, and assistant band director for the Mansfield Middle & Mansfield Senior High Bands. I was born and raised in Marietta, OH (it was the First Settlement in the Northwest Territory, 1788). I moved to Mansfield to begin teaching band in the Mansfield City Schools in 1990, and I'm beginning my 31st year as a band instructor! I earned my Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ohio University in 1990, and I earned a Master of Education degree from Ashland University in 1999. In addition to teaching, I also play trombone in a variety of music ensembles in the Northeastern Ohio area, including the Ashland Symphony Orchestra, the Suburban Brass Quintet, the AFM Local 159 Concert & Jazz Bands...as well as play trombone in numerous churches and pit orchestras in the area. My music tastes are very eclectic; I enjoy classic rock, jazz, classical, and classic Motown/Soul. GO TYGERS! 

Matt Domka began playing the violin and piano at the age of seven under the tutelage of Mrs. Elva Newdome and Mrs. Deb Bellamy. In 9th grade, he began studying with Ohio State University Professor, Michael Davis. Mr. Domka was a six-year member of the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Ettore Chiudioni, and participated in both regional and state orchestras throughout his high school years. Matt competed yearly in the Ribbon and OMEA festivals, as well as numerous OMEA competitions for both violin and piano. In 2004 Mr. Domka graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Music Education with a specialization in String Pedagogy. While at The Ohio State University, he continued his violin studies with Professor Michael Davis, studied String Pedagogy with Dr. Robert Gillespie and played under the baton of Professor Marshall Haddock. This is Mr. Domka’s 4th year as director of Orchestras in the Mansfield City Schools. Mr. Domka is currently teaching in the high school, middle school and Spanish immersion schools. He has maintained a private violin and viola studio since 1999, and directed the Mansfield Symphony Youth Strings for 5 years.  When time allows, he may be found playing with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, playing gigs with his family's string quartet, spending time out on the soccer fields with his children or hunting and fishing. Matt and his wife, Tami, have three children, Makenna age 15, Mitch age 13 and Gavin age 11. 

Jeff Freytag -- Band Director. Bachelor’s degree music education from The Ohio State University. Master’s degree in Classroom Teaching and the Multiple Intelligences from the University of Rio Grande. Beginning my 31st year of teaching - my 18th in Mansfield city Schools. I love Ohio State Football, Blue Jackets Hockey, golfing and vacationing at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Married for 22 Years to my wife Judi, have 2 sons 22 and 20, Black Labrador of 13 years (Woody)

I am Ms. Walker and I began my teaching career at Brinkerhoff elementary 21 years ago.  The last 18 years have been at the middle school level teaching language arts.  I have three kids, ages 17, 14, and 12.  They are all involved in sports, so they keep me extremely busy.  I also have two cats and a dog who love to shed all over my house.  In my free time, I enjoy lounging on my patio with a good book.  I also enjoy spending time with friends. Although this school year will be very unique, I am looking forward to growing the minds of our middle school Tygers.

Ms. Phelps is entering into her fourth year with Mansfield City Schools, this being her third at Mansfield Middle School. She has been teaching for 8 years overall. In her spare time, she prefers to be reading alongside any body of water, or spending time with her two sons.

 

My name is Courtney Bohn. I teach 7th grade language arts. This is my 12th year teaching and my 4th year in this district. I love to read, paint, go hiking and write. I have three kids and five grandkids. I also have two goldendoodles named Carmen and Scarlet. 

 

Hi, I'm Ms. Horsley, an 8th grade English Language Arts teacher here at Mansfield Middle School. The 20-21 school year marks my 12th year of teaching. However, I have been at Mansfield City Schools much longer. I am a 2002 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School! I'm a TY tyger through and through, and I'm so excited to start another year! Mrs. Egner - graduate of The Ohio State University and Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  I’ve taught at Mansfield City Schools for 11 years, specializing in mathematics. 

My name is Mrs. Wolboldt.  I am a TY-GER graduate!   I earned both my bachelors and masters from Ashland University. I have been teaching for 30 years. I love teaching Midle Schoolers!

I am Mrs. Lilley and I have been teaching for 26 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Master in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Licensure in Mild to Moderate Intervention, and 30 Hours of Gifted Instruction. I have been teaching 16 years at Mansfield City Schools. I am married with 3 grown sons, a daughter-in-law and a 7-year-old grandson. I love to learn new things. 

My name is Mrs. White and I am one of the 8th grade science teachers. I have been teaching in the Mansfield City Schools for over 20 years in various grade levels.  I LOVE teaching middle school.  I am a graduate of Ontario High School and The Ohio State University. I am really looking forward to getting to know your children and being as helpful as I can whether they are in my class or not. I'm always in the halls saying hi to everyone.

My name is Mr. Jones and I teach 7th grade science. I’m starting my fourth year at Mansfield City Schools. I graduated college from The Ohio State University and before that, I spent 6 years in the Air Force. I enjoy listening to music, playing music, and hiking with my wife, daughter, and dog. Hi, I'm Mrs. Rice.  I grew up in Mansfield and lived here most of my life.  I am a T Y Tyger and would not want to teach anywhere else but my hometown of Mansfield. I am married and have one son, who is also a T Y Tyger. I earned both my bachelors & masters from The Ohio State University.  You'll find me listening to music (all kinds), singing in my church's praise band, and working in my gardens.

I am Mr. Mergel and I have been a lifelong Richland County resident and have been teaching at MCS for 10 years. I am a graduate of The Ohio State University and received my Master’s Degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. I am married and have two children, a 4-year-old and a 6-month-old. I enjoy Ohio State football, teaching history, and spending time with my church, family and friends.

Mr. Roger Dials. Graduated from Mansfield Malabar High School in 1989. Played Professional Baseball for 3 years. Graduated from The Ohio State University with a History Degree. Graduated from Ashland University with an English and Teaching degree. Coached High School Baseball for 25 years. Been married for 31 years now. We have 4 adult children and 1 grandchild.  We also have 5 dogs. I have taught in Plymouth, Ontario, Shelby, Charlotte, Marion JCF, Mansfield Christian, and Mansfield City Schools. This will be my 3rd year with Mansfield City Schools.

Mr. deJonge • Math Intervention Specialist (8th Grade)

“Mr. D.” is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University.  He is currently entering his 17th year of teaching. He enjoys playing guitar, teaching math, and sharing stories from his “younger days”.

Mr. Amstutz is entering his 13th year in education as an Intervention Specialist in Math. He is an avid sports fan that enjoys football, basketball, and baseball.  

My name is Michelle Dials and I am the ID resource room teacher here at the middle school.   I am starting my 25th year of teaching but my 15th here at Mansfield City School. I have taught preschool, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and high school. I have my undergrad in special education from Bowling Green State University and my Masters in Literacy from Ashland University.  In my spare time I enjoy cooking, boating, paddleboarding, hiking, reading, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.

Mr. Williams, 7th Grade ELA Intervention Specialist. I am starting my 9th year teaching, 8th at the Middle School with 1 year at the High School. I graduated from, and live in, Shelby. I'm married to a lovely redhead for almost 38 years. She is a nurse here in a Mansfield doctor's office. Unfortunately, we didn't have kids, but have 3 fur babies. I like music of all kinds (mostly), technology and computers, spending time with my family and friends, love sports, and riding my motorcycle. In my spare time, I officiate football during the fall.

Ms. Massey is an Intervention Specialist English Language Arts at Mansfield Middle School. The 2020-2021 school year marks 18th years of teaching. She is a 1996 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. During her spare time, Ms. Massey enjoys traveling, organizing and reading.

Mr. Justice. Entering 15th year of teaching. BGSU graduate. Lives in Sandusky at Cedar Point. Love to boat, go to the beach and travel. Globetrotter! and diver! Worked in Africa. Former Football and basketball coach.


I am Mrs. Grace Villanueva, a Special Education teacher for 7th and 8th graders for 17 years now; 12 years in Mansfield Middle School.  I graduated from College in The University of the Philippines and I have my Master's Degree from Ashland University. I like to read books, go line dancing, do Zumba and share about my faith. Coming from the Philippines I offer diversity for the district as well as here in the Middle School.

My name is Kevin Hunter. I have been with the Mansfield City Schools for seven years as a para and football coach. I started as a substitute for three years and was hired as a full time para. I worked at Malabar for two years and then moved to the middle school. This is my second year at the middle school. During the summers I work for high touch homes and do home improvement work. I have four boys, Tim, Brayden, Preston and Dylan. My wife’s name is Melissa and we have been married for 18 years. I enjoy snowboarding, watching any sport, and spending time with the family.

My name is Amy Slessman and I have been a paraprofessional in the district for 10 years! I started my time at Mansfield in 2009, I first started subbing. I have worked at Prospect, Malabar and Senior high, I am currently at the middle school. I have 3 kids and a grandson who I enjoy spending all of my free time with. I work another job, so I don't do many exciting things.
