Learning, dinner, prizes Monday at Prospect

The leadership group of third-graders at Prospect Elementary listens as teacher Melissa Ervin explains their duties as guides for Math and Literacy Night.

Prospect Elementary School has a lot planned from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 23) during the school’s Math and Literacy Night.

Principal Kirsten DeVito said the first hour will feature classroom visits as parents join their students in a variety of math and literacy activities centered around the popular “Pete the Cat” books. Pete is the focal point of the district’s elementary reading campaign whose theme is “Oh the places you’ll go by reading.”

At each stop visitors will have their participation cards stamped to be eligible for raffle drawings.

The second half of the evening will feature a free pasta dinner in the cafeteria. Raffle prizes will be awarded and one family from each grade will win a food basket for Thanksgiving.

Members of Impact Worship Center will distribute free coats, hats and gloves to students who need them.
