Mansfield delegation traveled to the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus

Our Mansfield delegation traveled to the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus and had quite the run at this year's YMCA Youth & Government conference including awards & accomplishments such as;

-largest delegation (41 students)
-Best Representative (Meredith Heckert)
-Best Senator (Sophie Henderson)
-Best Judicial representative (Kiara Bragg)
-Best Lobbyist (Julianna Williams)
-two students chosen for the national conference (Ja’Niyah Davis and Brandon Polak)
-2 students were elected to offices for next year (Sydney Rizzo, Chief Justice; Ja’Niyah Davis, President of the Senate)
-14 students saw their bill make it to the Youth Governors desk with 9 of those students having their bill signed.

Youth & Government is a youth program put on by the YMCA where students act out the state legislative process by drafting bills, debating them in committee and in the General Assembly, and potentially having them signed by the Youth Governor. During this time they also campaign and run for elected offices for the next term in hopes of being elected by their peers at the conference.
