Teana Sykes, a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, class of 2001 is the creator of Secure the bag: A real-world simulation®. It is a life-sized, interactive game used to teach participants about finance in the real world: careers, budgeting, and credit. Mr. Shae Mowry and Mr. Danny Logan graciously let Ms. Sykes take over the Economics and Personal Finance classes for the day for an immersive and gamified learning experience. The students learned, firsthand, the impact of career choices, credit, and most importantly, buying decisions.
Special thanks to community partners Park National Bank, State Farm Insurance, A Beautiful Mind, and GEAR UP for volunteering. Together they helped equip high school students with the knowledge and resources needed to secure a better financial future.
