Springmill STEM Awarded Grant for Work on Literacy Programs
Mansfield City Schools announces a four year sub grant awarded to Springmill STEM Elementary School by the Ohio Department of Education, in partnership with Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center.

The Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant will allow Springmill STEM Elementary to focus in on implementation with their targeted vulnerable readers in grades K-4. The grant will provide professional development, access to resources and learning materials and aiding in instruction to build an enthusiasm for reading at an early age.

"This grant compliments a lot of the goals of the STEM program," said Regina Sackman, principal of Springmill STEM Elementary School. She adds that much of the focus will be on non-fiction and writing across the curriculum.

Springmill STEM will be used as a model site for other districts in the area on improving reading literacy and instruction.
