The Mansfield Fire Department and Mansfield Firefighters IAFF Local 266 will make Thanksgiving much brighter for 50 local families.

Phil Mitchell, coordinator of Mansfield City Schools’ S.A.F.E. program (Student Achievement through Family Engagement), said the department donated 40 turkeys and the union 10 more.

Mitchell directs assistance to MCS families classified as homeless. Many are living with relatives or friends.

“The turkeys will be distributed to families in transition at Mansfield Senior High on Monday and Tuesday,” Mitchell said.

Turkeys were donated to the city fire and police departments by a local business.
