11 Tygers will compete March 28 at Mohican District Science Day
MS science fairMansfield Middle School seventh-graders had their displays ready to set up in the Senior High commons for the local science fair on Feb. 19. Seven of them are headed to Mohican District Science Day.

      Eleven Mansfield City Schools students – four from Mansfield Senior High and seven from seventh grade – will compete at the 60th Mohican District Science Day March 28 at Ashland University.

      All advanced to district judging by earning superior ratings on their projects last month at the Senior High/middle school science fair.

      Mohican is one of 14 district science days across the state. Participants at AU will come from Richland, Ashland, Wayne, Holmes, Medina, Lorain, Huron and Erie counties.

      Students whose projects are judged to be superior will advance to the 72nd State Science Day May 9 at Ohio State University’s French Field House and St. John Arena. The Ohio Academy of Science governs the district and state events.

      Senior High students headed to Mohican District Science Day and the titles of their projects include:

      The Ohio Academy of Science is a nonprofit organization founded to stimulate interest in the sciences, to promote research, to improve instruction in the sciences, to disseminate scientific knowledge, and to recognize high achievements in attaining these objectives.
