The staff of Mansfield City Schools’ treasurer’s office joins treasurer-elect Tacy Courtright, who will begin work on Aug. 25. From left are Lori Wilburn, Char Bottomley, Sheri Gombosch, Courtright, Beth Rutledge and Nicole Horton. Tacy
Courtright was a sophomore at Ashland High School when she fell in love with
numbers.
“Mrs. Strouse’s tenth-grade accounting class – that’s when I knew what I wanted my career to be,” she said.
After
earning a degree in accounting and finance from Ashland University and two
decades of professional experience in Columbus, Courtright has been hired as
treasurer of Mansfield City Schools. She will begin work on Aug. 25.
“It’s been the dream of my husband and me to be able to return to this area. It’s like coming home,” Courtright said.
Her husband
Matthew, a fulfillment specialist tech3 at Spectrum, also graduated from
Ashland High School and Ashland University. The couple has three teenage
children, the oldest in college.
Courtright’s first job out of college was budget analyst for Franklin County’s juvenile and domestic court system. That was followed by a decade as assistant finance director for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.
Since 2012
Courtright, who has school treasurer certification, has worked as a budget
analyst for Columbus City Schools.
“I believe my experience and background in finance have prepared me well for this opportunity with Mansfield City Schools. I am eager to join the team here,” she said.
Courtright was at the Raemelton administration building a couple of days last week, meeting and talking with the treasurer’s office staff. She will continue working at Columbus City Schools, helping to train her successor there, until her late-August start date in Mansfield.
What will be
her approach to her work here?
“From the start I want to emphasize that we’re all a team in the treasurer’s office,” she said. “We will have regular meetings around the conference table so that we can discuss issues and collaborate. I am impressed by everyone I have met.
“While I know that I can count on the entire staff, I will do the work, not just delegate.”
Courtright’s contract will run through July 31, 2022.
Interim
treasurer Jill Smith will continue her work in the district through Aug. 28.
