A clean audit of Mansfield City Schools financial records has earned the district the Auditor of State Award with Distinction.

Only 4 percent – or approximately 240 – of the 6,000 governmental entities audited by the state qualify for the honor.

Treasurer Robert Kuehnle and his staff were notified of the award by Auditor of State Keith Faber.

“By keeping excellent financial records, these school districts show that they have the best interest of students in mind,” Faber said of Mansfield City and six other districts which earned the distinction designation.

Kuehnle said the state auditor’s Award with Distinction reflects the emphasis he and his staff apply to their responsibilities each day.

“Accuracy and full disclosure: That is the focus of our work every day. I have a dedicated staff who meets that responsibility without exception,” Kuehnle said. “Consistency in accurate financial reporting is very important.”

One of the requirements for the Award with Distinction is the preparation of a CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report).

The annual CARF also has earned Kuehnle’s office the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for three consecutive years from the Association of School Business Officials and the Government Finance Officers Association.

The CAFR and the PAFR (Popular Annual Financial Report) are available on the treasurer’s office link on tygerpride.com.
