The
Mansfield Senior High chamber orchestra serenaded the Mansfield City Schools
Board of Education Tuesday night in honor of National School Board Recognition
Month. Superintendent
Stan Jefferson surprised the board of education Tuesday evening by honoring the
entire board as Mansfield City Schools’ Every Student, Every Day champion for the
month.
January is
National School Board Recognition Month.
“No other
area of public service has a greater impact on our community than those who
guide the work of assuring our children’s educational success,” Jefferson said.
“Serving on
the board of education requires dedication and commitment. It demands countless
hours of study and an immense amount of energy.
“Board
members accept these responsibilities voluntarily,” Jefferson said. “They work
with administrators, teachers, support staff and parents to ensure the best
education possible for the young people of our community.”
Jefferson
expressed the district’s thanks to the board and mentioned each by name: Renda
Cline, president; Gary Feagin, vice president, Chris Elswick, Sheryl Weber and
Linda Golden. He also thanked recent board member Judy Forney, who was in the
audience.
Each board
member and Forney received a commemorative plaque, certificate and potted
plant.
