My name is Stan Gilbert, I am currently working in the ISS.  I am from Mansfield, OH and graduated from Malabar High School in 1989.  After high school I entered the United States Air Force.  I have 2 sons who graduated from Mansfield Senior.  My oldest Dustin, is an engineer at Honda in Marysville.  My youngest Derek, is a teacher at Trotwood-Madison and an assistant football coach there.  He is also married to my wonderful daughter-in-law Kennedy.  

I earned my bachelor degree from Ashland University in 2008 in early childhood. In 2010 I obtained my intervention specialist license.  I have taught at Mansfield Senior for 2 years (08-10) before moving to my current placement, Malabar.  I have coached football in the Mansfield district at both the middle school and varsity level.   

Safety Specialist- Mrs. Shaffer
 I am Mrs. Shaffer. I am a Safety Specialist at Malabar. I was a substitute Paraprofessional as well as a Substitute Secretary before taking a job at Malabar during the 19-20 school year. I LOVE IT HERE!

I have always been a Tyger at heart although I did graduate from Ontario High School after my family relocated after my 8th grade year. 


I have 3 kids. Two of them have graduated already and one who is a class of 2026 Tyger! 

I am married and my husband is in the Army in the 1486th Transportation Company based right here in Mansfield!


We are a soccer loving family and when I'm not at work, you'll most likely find me on the sidelines watching my son play. We also love camping in our camper.


Safety Specialist- Mr. Williams
 I am Mr. Williams and I serve as a Safety Specialist. I’ve been at Malabar four years. In total, since 2011, I’ve been with MCS seven years also working at Hedges Alternative School. 

Originally from East Orange, NJ. I finished school at Ontario and went to Ohio State & NCSC. I then went to the AirForce where I was introduced to the medical field through Laboratory Technology. I also worked at a youth facility while in service which is where I began to enjoy working with youth. After working in the medical field around 20 years, I started  to work with kids I. An alternative school setting. Not long after that, I was installed as Sr. Pastor of a local church. 


I am married with three daughters. I love spending time with family, and helping to inspire people.


Mrs. Stallsmith
Librarian- Mrs. Stallsmith
 My name is Karen Stallsmith.  I am the Malabar Intermediate Library Paraprofessional and I love my job! I graduated from Malabar High School in 1981 and I attended and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1985, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Social and Behavioral Sciences.  Prior to moving back home to Mansfield, I taught Pre School in Worthington, Ohio for 2 years.  I married an amazing man in June 1987 and moved back to Mansfield.  I worked with my husband in a Mansfield family business until I began my Mansfield City Schools career as a Substitute teacher in 2006.  In 2008, I became a Paraprofessional.  My love for the school environment is strong and deep!  I have 2 amazing children! Ben, my first born, teaches 6th, 7th and 8th grade History and Social Studies in Beachwood Ohio.  My daughter Ann, a graduate from Lexington School District, will be attending The Ohio State University, Fall of 2020, majoring in Civil Engineering.
  

In my spare time I love to read, relax with my family, needlepoint and play Mah Jongg with friends.  I am not much of an outdoor person but I love walking my dog Carmen and mowing the yard (on a riding mower).  I love computer technology – computer editing, word processing, and keeping in touch with family and friends. 

Working in the library has been extremely rewarding for me!  I am surrounded by books, wonderful staff and students, and I get to work in the coolest Library ever! 


Mrs. Gilland
 Speech Therapist- Mrs. Gilland
 My name is Johanna Gilland and I have worked as a speech language pathologist at Malabar for three years.  I love to help students with their speech articulation, voice, language, and fluency skills, so they may be effective communicators with their peers and in the classroom. Prior to working in education beginning in 2015, I worked in healthcare as an SLP for 12 years. 

I received my master’s degree from Kent State University in 2003. I was born and raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  I live with my husband Dave and we have two teenagers.  Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, camping, and hiking.  


Mrs. Root
Speech Therapist- Mrs. Solveig Root
 I am a speech therapist at Malabar. Originally from the Cleveland area, after graduating from BGSU with an M.A. in Speech Pathology I moved to Mansfield and have been helping children and adults improve their communication skills for the past 40 years.  Wow--that’s a chunk of time!  Good thing I love what I do!  My husband, Dave, is a retired minister and we have 2 sons who graduated from Mansfield Sr. High, Christian (‘05) who is a pastor in Grove City, OH and Nils (‘07) who is the marketing partner for an investment firm in Columbus. Nils was also the quarterback for the TYger football team. GO TYgers! 
 
 
Mrs. Mace
Occupational Therapist- Mrs. Mace
Hello! My name is Sarah Mace and I am the occupational therapist here at Malabar. I have the honor to work with the students in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade to improve their fine motor skills and increase their success in the school environment. I have been at Malabar for two years and I look forward to many more! 

I graduated from Otterbein University for my undergraduate degree in Allied Health and then went on to get my Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at Mary Baldwin University in Virginia.I was lucky enough to travel around the country for my clinicals and after a year or so of working in New York I came back to my hometown of Bellville. I recently got married to my husband, Daniel, and we have 4 dogs, chickens, horses and my hope is to add to our little farm with a donkey! I am proud to be part of the Tyger family :)
