Superintendent Brian Garverick has
expressed Mansfield City Schools’ support for next week’s Spread the Light 2018
campaign to honor law enforcement agencies. The local We ACT group, an organizer
of the campaign, issued a press release describing the Jan. 7-13 effort as “a blue-light
week to promote pride in our local law enforcement, partnership in all
communities of Richland County and peace in our neighborhoods.
“Help Spread the Light by putting a
blue light bulb on your porch or business during the week of Jan. 7-13 and
beyond to show support for the men and women who put their lives on the line
every day to protect and serve the citizens of Richland County,” the We ACT
statement said.
Spread the Light will kick off at 5
p.m. on Sunday at Graham Automall, 1515 W. Fourth St. The program will include
testimonials, live music and refreshments. Blue lights will be available.
“Mansfield City Schools deeply
appreciates the role of law enforcement in keeping our schools and community
safe,” Garverick said. “We know we can depend on them and we are grateful.”
Joining We ACT in Sunday’s kickoff
program will be the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Mansfield Police
Department, Police Wives of Ohio, Mansfield area chapter; Richland County
Prosecutor’s Office, State Rep. Mark Romanchuk, UMADAOP and the 179th
Airlift Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard.
