Kindergarten readiness camp set for Aug. 3-7

Mansfield City Schools will welcome incoming kindergarten students to its second annual readiness camp Aug. 3-7 at Springmill Learning Center, 1200 Nestor Drive.

Goal of the camp is to provide small-group, fun learning activities that will help children be ready for kindergarten. More than 70 attended last year.

The camp will be staffed by Mansfield City Schools teachers assisted by Ohio State University students majoring in education. Daily sessions from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. will include 30-minute learning stations centered on reading, math, writing, word work, phonics and gross motor and fine motor development.

A snack will be provided each day and bus transportation will be available.

Letters about the camp have been sent to parents of all children who will enter kindergarten in September. Follow-up calls are being made. Anyone who would like to register a child or learn more about the camp may contact the district’s State and Federal Programs office at 419-525-6400, ext. 56440.
