Colorful upgrade planned at Arlin Field

This rendering shows the colorful new signs and Tyger head that will adorn the north side of Arlin Field.

The Fourth Street side of Arlin Field soon will have a colorful new look, thanks to the generosity of two local businesses.

Senior Senior High Athletic Director Skip Fulton said StarTek, Inc. of Mansfield and Spazz Monkey of Ontario combined to donate more than $7,000 worth of signage for the side of the stadium.

Bold orange signs proclaiming TYGER PRIDE CITY WIDE and HOME OF THE TYGERS will be hung on the outside of the stadium along Fourth Street. A new and brightly colored Tyger head will be placed in the center.

“The beautification project that is just beginning at Arlin Field was the brainchild of Tom Luther and Donald Kaufmann of StarTek, two of the thousands of people who drive by Arlin Field on a daily basis,” Fulton said.

StarTek, a global provider of business process outsourcing services, is located near the stadium at 850 W. Fourth St.

“One of the first things that became noticeable to them was the wear that was starting to show on the Tyger head that currently greets visitors at the gate,” Fulton said. “That began a discussion that revolved around what could be done to bring the outside of the stadium in line with the visual appeal of the turf that adorns the inside.”

The discussion eventually included Fulton, Stan Gilbert, president of the Mansfield tiger Booster Club, and Matt Winemiller and Roger Zellner of Spazz Monkey, which produces custom-made signs, decals, posters and other items.

A brief ceremony to officially unveil the new stadium enhancements will be held Friday evening prior to the start of the Tygers-Lexington football game. Representatives of StarTek and Spazz Monkey will participate.

StarTek has more than 9,000 employees. More than 500 work at StarTek in Mansfield which supports one of the largest telecommunications providers across the globe. The Mansfield location soon will focus on inbound customer care for Nestle, a new client.

Spazz Monkey holds licenses with 28 colleges and universities in Ohio and surrounding states. The company’s products also can be found in three National Hockey League team shops.
