High, middle school open houses Thursday

Mansfield Middle School’s administrative team includes Principal Robert McQuate, right, and Assistant Principal Jason Douglas.

Mansfield Senior High School and Mansfield Middle School will welcome the public to their respective open houses from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 3).

Parents, grandparents and others will have an opportunity to visit students’ classrooms and meet teachers.

Senior High Principal Jose Hernandez said visitors will be welcome to go into classrooms as they choose.

“We have 13 new teachers this year,” said Hernandez, who is starting his initial year as principal. “Open house will be a great opportunity to meet and talk with our staff.”

Also new to Senior High are counselor Tammy Deitsch and Andy Kepple, dean of students. Fuzzie Davis continues in her role as assistant principal.

Principal Robert McQuate said the middle school’s eight-period day will be compressed into 10-minute periods during open house.

“We will encourage parents to go to their student’s classes, following the same schedule as the student does during the day,” he said. “After each 10 minutes we will ring the bell for the next class.”

McQuate was the middle school assistant principal last year. Jason Douglas, most recently the principal at the Hedges alternative school, is the new middle school assistant principal.
