Offer your ideas Wednesday on district's strategic plan

Development of a five-year strategic plan for Mansfield City Schools will move forward with a second round of student, staff and community focus groups on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Mansfield Senior High School.

The district is reaching out to all community members to help develop a strategic plan that will set priorities, focus energy and resources and set attainable goals. An earlier round of focus groups met on Jan. 14.

Superintendent Stan Jefferson said participation by all groups on Wednesday will help to define the district’s direction in response to an every-changing environment that puts children and student learning at the center.

“A strategic plan will be a blueprint for our district to follow toward greater success on a wide range of topics, including steadily improving academic achievement, conducive learning environments in every building and most efficient use of facilities,” Jefferson said. “We seek the views and opinions of everyone.”

The focus groups will be supplemented by a districtwide survey later this month.

Wednesday’s focus group schedule at Mansfield Senior High School includes:

      -- 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Twenty-five senior students.

      -- 1 – 2 p.m. Parents and community members. Open to all.

-- 2:45 – 3:45 p.m. Staff focus group; focus on Mansfield Middle School and Mansfield Senior High School.

-- 4:15 – 5:15 p.m. Staff focus group; focus on Sherman, Springmill STEM and prekindergarten.

      -- 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Parents and community members. Open to all.
