Western Wind-Up

Western Wind-Up

The Western Wind-Up was printed several times annually between 1936 and 1978 at Western Elementary School, which was renamed Rebecca Grubaugh Elementary School in 1949. The school was located on Western Avenue just south of West Fourth Street.

Copies of the Western Wind-Up were carefully preserved by Miss Leona Miles, a teacher at Grubaugh who founded the newspaper and was its adviser for all 43 years of its publication. The newspapers were donated to Mansfield City Schools by former Mansfield judge Paul Christ, attorney for Miles’ estate, who discovered them after her death in 2007.

The Western Wind-Up is accessible by clicking on the desired year below.
