Appleseed Press

Appleseed Press

Listed below are yearly editions of The Appleseed Press, a student newspaper printed at Mansfield’s Appleseed Junior High School.

One hundred and thirty-seven editions, spanning 1940 to 1963, were donated to Mansfield City Schools by Jay Gilbert, a ninth-grader at Appleseed in 1963 and a 1966 graduate of Malabar High School.

Appleseed, located on Cline Avenue, opened as a junior high school on Jan. 29, 1940. It later served grades seven, eight and nine before housing only ninth-graders in its later years. The building was torn down several years ago.
